Camping Trip #1

We went on a ton of camping trips during the month of August.  This is the first one!

We went to a beautiful provincial park not too far away, but far enough :).

It was THE BEST camping trip because we were on the river.  We borrowed Ian's parents' canoe and our bikes were stowed inside the trailer.  You would've believe the amount of stuff in that tiny trailer.

Here we are, ready to go!

Jump for joy!

Hooray!  We're going camping!!! Everyone's super excited, including the parents.

After we arrived and set up camp, we went for a canoe paddle after supper.

The next morning, this is the beauty we awoke to.

Cold.  Super cold.  Only 9 degrees Celsius overnight.  But still beautiful to awake to this.

Pants, sweaters, even coats for awhile, were mandatory.

Early morning campfire.

We had ducks visiting us at our campsite every morning.

Of course, the kids fed them a ton so that aided in their desire to return.

After breakfast, we went for another canoe ride.  It was the best part of the trip for me.  We paddled down the river (so quiet because we are all early birds).
Ian and I paddled and the kids took turns with spare paddles.

Love Mason's face!

Ethan sat in front of me.  (You have to be quite strategic with 4 kids in 1 canoe...who can sit next to whom, who can't sit next to whom, who will stand up and cause near-heartattacks about falling out, and who panics when the canoe gets a bit wobbly).

Beauty.

The foot bridge.

More ducks.
Yes, we brought bread to feed them.
Bread was like our fifth child this trip.

We paddled down (up?  I don't know) the river to the play structure on the other end of the park.  Meg and I got hot chocolate and coffee (since it was still cold) at the store.

Meg enjoys her hot chocolate as much as her mom.

The boys too.

All 4 monkeys in a row.

Our canoe.

Yum!

We got back to the campsite and, of course, fishing had to happen.

Ethan picked out his own pink fishing rod at a yard sale recently and Ian quickly made sure there was no hook but still a shiny thing on the end that roughly resembled a hook to 2 year old eyes.

This pic was take right before we caught a 30 pounder.

Yes, Ethan.

He fell in.

Austen fishes too.

More pics to come on the next blog post.

(Turns out Blogger actually won't let me add more pics to this post....didn't realize there was a max limit)
