A photo tour of our new house!

Our room (double the size it was at our old house)

The boys' room... (there's another red wall opposite the window)

A view of the dining room (from the kitchen)

Megan's room (pink, of course!)

Huge kitchen

Living room upstairs

From the entrance, there are stairs going up or down.

Family room/living room downstairs (Huge!) and our other dining table fits in it as well so it's now our games table.

Half of the playroom (downstairs)

The 5th bedroom downstairs...it houses a futon, weight set, and the kids' farm table.

Our arts & crafts room/school room/library/my office (downstairs)

No photos of the outside yet as there is way too much snow to be able to get any good photos...hopefully spring will come soon!

Vitamins

Our kids have hardly been sick this past winter. Aside from the rare cold, and Megan catching a bug from school twice, our kids have been very healthy. And that is with tons of kids coming in and out of our house with the daycare I had, and with both Ian and Megan at school, ready to bring any virus home, willing to share its illness.

I like to attribute it to the naturopath who recommended a very good vitamin for Austen. We've started using it roughly 2 years ago and its done wonders for our kids. We started Megan on the vitamin roughly a year ago and now have started Mason on it too. It's a liquid vitamin, it's just for kids, and it's expensive. But it's oh so worth it. We order it online because we can't find it anywhere else. (Oh, and they also take a liquid fish oil too - which helps). So, if you're interested, here's the link that I would highly recommend you try. You do have to give the vitamin awhile to begin to start to work, to build up in your child's body, before you start to notice a difference so don't be looking for a miracle overnight. However, I find it an awesome vitamin and will continue to use it for a long time. It's worth it.

P.S. Look for new photos of our house posted on my blog in the next few days.

Planning a trip!

I'm planning a trip to Holland ("the motherland").

My aunt and uncle have a 25th wedding anniversary in June and my brother, sister, and my mom are excited to attend.

Only thing is...leaving my kids.

I've never been away from them for more than one overnight. And this will definitely be more than one overnight. I know that Megan and Austen will be ok (as will Mason)...I mean, they'll all be ok. It's just that I won't be here to be their mom. And that's hard. I know Ian will do a fine job on his own for the few days I'm gone but it's still hard to leave my young kids.

Anyhow, on the other hand, it will be very nice to get away for a few days. I'll be in the beginning of my third trimester so it'll be an adventure complete with traveling in an airplane, jet lag, and fatigue.

I'm excited to see my family and some friends but it'll be very quick. Because I'm not staying away from my kids for THAT long. No way. Someone else might be able to stay away longer but that's not for me. I'll have fun while I'm there, but will be glad to come home again also.

I plan on doing some of my favourite things while there. For one, I'm going to my absolute favourite restaurant of ALL time - Herberg de Wildhof. I can just taste it! And Ian's very jealous that I'll be able to have a frikandel ... I told him not to worry, I'll eat a "frikandel speciaal" for him :).

Little bits of news...

Little bits of news from as of late...

* * *

Since moving closer to family and friends (and thus further from Ian's work) we decided it was time for the kids to start attending Sunday school. We lived further away from church at our old house and with the inconsistency every Sunday we hadn't been able to attempt the Sunday school thing yet. However, today was the first day and it was a great success. Megan loved it. Austen...well, it'll take baby steps since this is his first real exposure to "real" school but we're sure it'll get better and better. Ian and I attended our Parenting Class which was great.

Today we also found out that our house is as secure as can be. No thief will be able to break in without causing a whole lot of noise. Thing is, somehow the doors were locked, we were in the van. and we hadn't yet put a house key on our second vehicle’s key chain (which we were taking to church). So...after attending church, we had to break into our house. Ian got some "locksmithing" tools from his dad (a hammer and a crowbar) and busted the doorknob on the garage door. Dakota (our dog), who was inside, was going nuts! At least we have that security too! We had a spare doorknob which Ian was able to put on the door afterwards as the old one was in pieces. Certainly gives you a wake up call though! It's awful not being able to go into your house when you want!

Austen has started his speech and language course. He attends each Thursday for an hour. Last Thursday was his first time and he loved it. He got to play games the whole time and it was a real success. He even got homework and he was super excited for this!

We're very excited for the March Break next week and have a ton planned. Aside from getting together with a bunch of the (past) daycare kids, we are also planning on taking the kids to see the movie “Gromeo and Juliet”. Our kids have never been in a movie theatre before so this will be a wonderful experience. Can’t wait! We’re also planning to go bowling and do a lot of painting in our new house so it’ll be a really good week for us.

We’ve had a ton of snow here in the last week. It’s crazy! Thank God our snow blower works again (thanks to my wonderful father-in-law) so Ian’s been able to use that for the most part. Such a time-saver! (and back-saver too!)

Megan’s school did a public speaking event a few weeks ago and Megan was one of the kids to move on in the Primary division. She did her speech in front of the school and once again, was chosen to move forward. She was one of four in the school zone (in the Primary division) that was able to move on and she did a fabulous job. We’re so proud of our little public speaker! Never did we think that our shy little girl would have the courage to speak for 3 minutes in front of a crowd of peers, teachers, and adults. So proud!

This week, Megan has the last of her piano lessons before she is allowed to decide if she wants to move on or not. We wanted her to finish her session and give it another month before really deciding not to continue on.

Also, I have a doctor’s appointment so I’ll get to hear the baby’s heartbeat again. I’m 13 weeks now and finally starting to feel less nauseous. Sooo much better.

That’s all for now, folks!

Sunday Snapshot

I went to get an ultrasound this past week and was able to hear the heartbeat and see our baby for the very first time. Sooo awesome!! What do you think - boy? girl?
