For our third camping trip we went a little further away. We had a very private campsite which was awesome but also a little worrisome since there was an active bear alert in effect. Anyhow, the provincial park we stayed at was huge. And beautiful.
We hiked a 5 km trail one afternoon to a waterfall. Sooo beautiful.
This is right before our hike. We had already hiked to the start of the trail.
Not everyone was up to walking which is why we took the wagon.
We took quite a few pics by the waterfalls.
A selfie...managed to squeeze all 6 of us in.
Rumbling waters.
Someone was in awe.
We were able to climb the rocks down to the waterfall.
Ethan and his "farmer boots" were inseparable.
Meg took his pic of me.
The water was nice.
Please ignore the left hand. Boys.
Pausing for a snack.
On another day, we hiked to this beautiful lookout.
Very sunny day.
Coffee-coloured waters.
Back at the campsite.
On another day we were biking and a bunch of cars and people had stopped to see a deer and her babies. I didn't manage to capture them but this is where they were.
(Not everyone is lucky enough to have deer visiting them at their house every morning. See previous posts for this.)
The mornings were so so cold that we had to rearrange the sleeping arrangements to accommodate for our little breakfast nook.
Of course, fishing was part of the fun. Though still cold.
Very picturesque.
The bridge.
One of 4 beaches at the park. They were all on the same lake.
Though we didn't catch anything, they had a good time.
Ethan. Oh my word. So cute. Rain coat, hat, lifejacket, rubber boots, and pink Sofia sunglasses. Isnt he the definition of summer? Hahaha
Mason got bored quite quickly.
Another shot of the cutie.
Megan had to pee so we walked to the outhouses. This view is from the bridge.
This is the view from another beach...the one they rent canoes from.
What a reflection in the water! Awesome. So clear.
Trying to actually scoop up fish...
Mason poses out of boredom.
Avid fisherman.
Our fishermen.
We went to the beach too (of course). We parked ourselves right next to a little stream that kept flowing into the lake. The boys quickly started building dams and trying to block the water.
(The black corner you see in some pics is my iPad cover covering my iPad lens)
Two boys around Austen's age joined the fun and the boys all worked together to stop the water in the little stream.
Isn't it awesome when kids can make friends so easily. With the simple objective of stopping water by building sand dams.
Kids just don't bother themselves with such trivial things such as names or ages. They just have fun.
Working together to build dams.
We got to sit and watch the drama unfold when the water rose too high and broke the dams.
We had a wonderful time camping, even though back-to-back camping got to be quite busy. We hope to do it again next year and hopefully camp on some other great campsites we scoped out!
