Austen loves Pokemon and really wanted a Pokemon birthday party. He invited 7 friends but 2 couldn't make it, so he had 5 friends come which was awesome. I decorated with red, white, and black...the colours of the Pokeball (as far as I know....I'm Poke-clueless). I did try to educate myself and get educated by Austen in all things Pokemon but, in Austen's words, "it's just too hard to explain".
Here's our Pokemon streamer spidery thing.
We created our own Pokemon cards and borrowed a whole bunch of iPad minis so we could get online and do it. We found out the kids Pokemon names beforehand on a website and had them all displayed. We also displayed the websites we used just in case the boys closed the windows on the iPads.
The Pokemon backdrop to take candid shots.
Instructions on how to create your Pokecards.
Goody bags to take home all their winnings.
This is Meowth...like the only character I know, besides Pikachu. He is guarding the door to the golden shiny things....since that's what he likes. (we played a hunt for chocolate coins in this room later)

Another coin hidden.
We also decorated white and/or red cupcakes.
Austen had his Pokemon cards out and ready to go.
We played a Balloon game "red vs. blue". We had two teams and they had to try to stomp on the other teams balloons which were tied to their ankles. One team had to eliminate the other team.
We also did a Pokeball hunt.
Here's one hiding.
And another.
Yet another.
Some had Austen's favourite Pokemon character Axew on it. If you found Axew, you got an extra guess for the guess & win jar....this time filled with caterpie (or gummy worms).
We also played another balloon game. Each balloon here had a yellow paper in it but only 1 had a picture of Pikachu on it. If they found it, they got an extra guess! So the object of the game was to try and break as many balloons as possible to find Pikachu.
I moved a ton of furniture into the garage to make room inside for the festivities. Thankfully we have a huge living room.
The chart for the guesses.
I made Pokeball cake pops for the guests to take home.
The cupcakes awaiting decorations.
Let the party begin!
