So...the moment has arrived...Austen has been waiting aaaalllll winter for this moment. The other day he looked out our window and let out a huge yell. "The Cows are Back!!!" As you know, he adores cows. He wants to be a farmer when he grows up. Loves cow pictures. Watching oma and opa milk the cows. Asks questions constantly about cows. Will point out every single field with a cow in it on the drive anywhere. (Interestingly enough he can't drink cow milk.)
Anyhow, the field next to our house has cows in it each summer. They got here a bit later this year and we really didn't think they'd come back. When they got them last fall to bring back to the barn Austen was so intrigued with the process. They herded the cows along the road, leaving cow plops on our driveway and running into the neighbours front yard. Very cool to watch.
Now they're back and so far, each day he's checked to make sure they're still there. And he goes to watch them. And point out things. Like the other day he told me one cow didn't have a tail. Or that there was a baby cow (there wasn't). And that not all of them have udders.
The photo above is of Austen, Rachel, Ben (Ben and Rachel: kids I have in my daycare), and Mason watching the cows. Such a cute photo.
