The wedding...part 1

They're married!!
My little sister is married!!
It was such a fun-filled 3 day "weekend" that I have to divide the whole event happenings into a few different posts.

Therefore, we start with the Wednesday.
We loaded up our van with a ton of luggage, a wedding cake (disassembled), over 150 hydrangea frosted cupcakes, cake stuff to repair the cake and assemble it, wedding clothes for 6 people, and a ton of snacks and toys and movies and other paraphernalia.  To that we added 4 children and 2 adults and we were set for the 7 hour drive across part of the province.
(Oh, and a giant cardboard box of shoes!  Church shoes, sandals, crocks for the pool, other nice shoes for the rehearsal dinner, and that for each person x 6!!! - that's 24 pairs...if you do the math).

We arrived at the hotel and unloaded quickly.  We had to make it in time for a "meet the in-laws" family dinner at a restaurant.

Here is the cake.  It made the drive ok.  A few bumps and bruises but I managed to conceal them alright.

Their custom-made cake topper is on the top tier (their monogram).

The top tier is lemon cake with buttercream.  The middle is vanilla cake with buttercream.  The bottom tier is chocolate cake with chocolate ganache.

The cupcakes looked like this at the church.

Little aside note...because blogger won't let me move these two pics...Megan models the alteration done to her dress.

What a grown-up beautiful girl.

Her are the cupcakes awaiting more decorating and transportation.

Here is part of our hotel suite.  My sister texted me as to what I was wearing and Ian took this quick pic with his phone as I was running around trying to get ready for the dinner.

I didn't realize my shirt was on backwards!!!
Wow - tells you how frantic I was.
(Although I kinda like the backwards look better...)

We met my sister's fiancé's entire family at a local restaurant and had a lot of fun getting to know each other.  We also watched the soccer game on a giant screen (Netherlands VS Argentina) which they sadly lost to the dismay of the many orange-clad fans all around us in the restaurant/sports bar.

We got the kids to bed a little late but not too bad.  They got rested up for the next 2 busy busy busy days.

 More in part 2...to come...

  1. LOVE IT! It's unreal that I'm married. Also unreal that all 6 of you made the trek across the province 2 times in the last 6-8 weeks! Now that's love :)
