Fall

10 Things I Love About Fall

1. The changing colours of the leaves...so pretty. Especially when you're driving.

2. With no snow yet but colder weather comes....HOT CHOCOLATE enjoyed outdoors!!! There are not too many things that are as warming and enjoyable as sipping hot chocolate with marshmallows outdoors while the kids play in their leaf forts.

3. Clothes! I'm a pants and sweaters kind of girl...I'd pick this outfit over shorts and t-shirts any day. Cozy and comfy all the way.

4. The anticipation of Christmas. I LIVE for Christmas. It's my absolute favourite holiday ever. Two of my kids' birthdays are in December, and all the lights at night, the Christmas shopping, the Christmas movies on tv, gotta love the build-up to Christmas...did you know we (only) have 8 weeks till Christmas?? (YAY!)

5. Halloween. Though I'm not much of a Halloween-loving-person myself, I love it for my kids. They love dressing up and getting candy and the Halloween party we have with the daycare kids. And, of course, I enjoy the "aftermath" of the trick-or-treat session, especially when there's chocolate involved!

6. Fall crafts. Fall lends itself to providing tons and tons of natural crafts for our little ones. Austen asks to read the book "Leaf Man" over and over all year long and in the Fall we can finally replicate the wonderful images displayed in this book. Such a great craft idea!

7. The Santa Claus Parade!! LOVE THIS! We attend one in late November that takes place at evening time. It's wonderful to see all the lights and listen to the Christmas music and sip your apple cider while watching the parade with friends and family and seeing the joy on your kids' faces when Santa passes by.

8. My birthday. I know several people who don't care about their birthdays, who would rather it be just another day, some who don't celebrate them anymore, but I love celebrating mine. Any occasion for gathering friends and family and having a good meal and great conversation (and even presents!) is awesome, I think. I say, why not? Why not celebrate your birthday...out of 365 days of the year, 1 day might as well be yours!

9. Thanksgiving. An important time to teach our kids and remind ourselves to be thankful for everything (and everyone) that is given to us and to remind us of how good our God really is.

10. New paths, new beginnings, new plans. Although January is traditionally known for the start of the new year, I think for us, it's September, especially this one. This September has led us down new paths personally. One of these is that we decided to definitely build onto our home. After having seen many many houses that just didn't have that 1 thing we were looking for, we decided to stay put and build onto our home. I guess this is where we'll grow old after all!
