Remember 4 years ago...the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver? I ran quite a big daycare at that point and organized an Olympic week for the daycare kids. If you want to check that out, scroll (on the right) to my previous posts and select 2010, then February. You will see that all the kids represented a country. They competed in all sorts of events throughout the week and they also participated in an opening and closing ceremony. It was so fun! We also kept track of the actual medals won in the Olympics and kept track of them. Well, this time around we are going to try to do something similar again. My daycare isn't as big this time however, with 9 "countries" competing I think we will have a great time!
I've already set up a comprehensive chart.
Each of us is assigned/picked a country. (Canada was wanted by all so Denver - our cat - is its current representative - as well as all of us together).
This chart to the right of the countries keeps track of the (real) Olympics while the chart to the left of the countries keeps track of our own events.
We are geared up and ready to watch many events of the Sochi Olympics. So exciting!
We will keep track of all the winnings in Russia while we compete in our own adapted winter events all next week.
Let the Games begin!!
