I don't know if anyone else reads the blogs I have on my blog list but I wanted to highlight a few that perhaps you, my reader, would enjoy too! And, also, because my good friend just started her own blog and I wanted to give her a little nod :) .
THE ONES I READ DAILY
So, first up, my absolute most favourite blog...the one I check daily and the one I've followed since I started my own blog..."Clover Lane". Sarah has 6 kids, ranging from college age to baby and she's soo down-to-earth. She's got great tips, recipes, and writes wonderfully. She embraces the simple life, the less-harried, and the live-in-the-moment and enjoy your family daily. I love her blog!
Next, another blog I've followed since the beginning..."Whatever". Meg has a great style, lots of colour, and she runs a monthly crafting weekend...sooo want to join that but it's in Kansas :( . She's got 5 kids and recently moved to the country. A wonderful uplifting blog.
Through Meg from "Whatever" I found "TheMacs". Jess is friends with Meg (in real life) and she's undergone a lot of heartache. Her little girl Cora died before age 1 and Jess writes about her healing journey. She's also got two boys the same age as mine (one is only a week older than Ethan) and they live on a farm.
THE ONES I KNOW
I follow a few blogs from people I actually know.
First, my sister. She hasn't written a blog post in a LONG time but told me she's starting up again soon...right after she graduates from her Masters. Right now her blog is called "Today I Learned About" but she's planning on renaming it and adapting a bit of a different topic, relating to her work at IJM.
The friend I mentioned above calls herself Mamashunga and just started her blog "Adventures-in-Mamaland". The fun thing is that her two little ones attend my daycare so aside from a friend connection and work connection (she also works with my husband, Ian), we now have a blog connection as well! She just recently started her blog but already her writing style and adventures are an addictive read.
Another friend I met through Ian who works with her aunt. She started up her blog around the same time I did (or a bit later). She has recently started running and is an inspiration to anyone who wants to start. She's got 3 little ones, around the same ages as my three oldest kids, and she and her husband (also Ian) run a very busy and successful farm. Her name is Deb and she writes "Glenroy Farm, written by Deb McGregor"!
TerriAnn is a friend I met during my Bachelor of Education year. She was a bridesmaid in our wedding and she used to write "A Hug In A Mug" which is now "Blessed Homestead". She has 3 daughters and she writes about living frugally, eating organically, and homeschooling. She recently moved to the country and her adventures are inspiring!
Another friend from my Teacher's College year is Greg (he was also in our wedding). He writes "Monkey House" and has two little boys. One of his boys has the same antics as one of our boys so it's fun to read his daily life with his family. He has a great writing style as well...very entertaining!
My cousin, Vincent, in Holland, married a woman named Esther who writes (in Dutch) the blog "Met Blote Voeten". She has two little girls and writes about her daily life. It's awesome being able to connect with my family in Holland this way and check inwith them.
THE FUNNY ONES
A couple of blogs I follow because they are very comical.
The best one by far is "Crappy Pictures". I think I read this one as much as "Clover Lane". I love her adventures and her funny writing and drawings. Check her out!
I also read "Jason Good" and "Stuff Dutch People Like" for a good laugh.
THE SERIOUS ONE
After I read the book "Kisses From Katie" I started reading her blog "the Journey". It's a blog to keep you grounded, to remember that we need to be grateful, and to see what life is like on the other side of the world where a child doesn't have parents or healthcare or a home and IS HAPPY with being able to attend school. What a different world.
THE CREATIVE ONES
The rest of the blogs I follow are creative ones. Some centre around crafts, while others focus on baking and/or cooking.
I love "Bakerella", "Mamas Like Me", "Lil Blue Boo" and "Frugal Family Fun Blog". All of these talk about daily life as well and are definitely worth the read.
I love my blogs and even though I don't know most of the bloggers I follow, I feel like I do after having followed them for years. I hope you will find a blog you enjoy too, if only to get that little escape, those few moments to yourself, just to read and identify with someone living a similar life. It's always nice to know you're not the only person going through what you're going through. Enjoy!
